Putting My Experience
to Work

Lapeer friends and neighbors. My name is Meggen Lang and I am the current Chief Deputy Register of Deeds for Lapeer County. I have had the privilege to be a Lapeer resident for 12 plus years now. In my time as your neighbor I have had the honor to serve you and the county of Lapeer working in the Register of Deeds office.  I was appointed to my current position by the recently retired Register of Deeds who served our county for 43 plus years. Under her mentorship and guidance I was able to gain the knowledge needed to lead the team at the Register of Deeds office and  better serve you. I am the only candidate that has five years of current experience in the day to day operations of the Register of Deeds office. During my time as Chief Deputy Register of Deeds I have assisted with managing our office, hiring our current staff and training our staff. The knowledge I have has built a rock solid foundation as I look to take the next step in supporting our community by becoming the next Register of Deeds. Many of you may ask what does the Register of Deeds office do. In my time as Chief Deputy Register of Deeds I have been asked that exact question by friends and family many times.

The Register of Deeds is the county office which records all legal papers pertaining to the transfer of land & properties. The office records hundreds of different types of documents, these documents are reviewed prior to recording to insure they meet State Statute Recording Requirements. The Register of Deeds office maintains records dating back to 1835, we keep all records organized in an easy-to-use system for the public to have access to. In knowing the importance and the responsibility of our office I ask of you to take the knowledge and experience I have and elect me as Lapeer Counties next Register of Deeds. While in office I will make sure every experience you have with the Register of Deeds office will be as seamless as possible. Making the recording of property sales, change of ownership and genealogy research a stress free experience. Our office is here to serve you and with your vote I can continue to be also. Thank you for your support in advance.

About

About

Meggen Lang

Republican Elephant

I was raised on a farm in the small town of Standish, MI. Growing up there early on in life my parents instilled in my brother and me the value of honesty and hard work. Throughout my years living in Standish I carried those values with me and became a member of organizations that matched my beliefs. I was a member of The Future Farmers of America and 4H. These organizations continually helped reinforce the values I was raised on. After graduating from Standish High School I went on to get a degree from Delta College. While in college I became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. I have always had a passion for genealogy and learning the history that built our great nation. This passion of genealogy and history ultimately lead me to a career opportunity in Lapeer. In 2012 I moved to Lapeer and became a Director at a Lapeer retirement village. This gave me the chance to learn from residents who had experienced much of our recent history first hand.  During my time there the residents shared their life stories to include ones of service to our country and the history of Lapeer. I spent many priceless hours with them on trips locally getting to know the community, their families and the values that built Lapeer County. During this time I also got married and before you knew it my husband and I were blessed to welcome our son to the world. After the birth of our son I was given the opportunity to serve our county at the Register of Deeds office.  Early on my work ethic formed many years ago was recognized and I was appointed by the now retired Register of Deeds to become her Chief Deputy Register of Deeds. In this position it has been my privilege to assist in leading our office and being a resource to the community. Based on my first hand experience as the current Chief Deputy Register of Deeds I would be honored to continue serving our community with your support in electing me to the position of Register of Deeds.
